Though it is rumored that she is the product of a night of unrestrained indulgence between Peggy Lee, Mel Brooks, Nina Simone, Dean Martin and Janis Joplin the truth is Lady Rizo was raised by theatrical gypsies with the highest show business ethics. When she almost looked of age she rebelled against the comforting, unscrubbed, rustic life and set out for a world of harsh metropolitan sophisticates.
The 'Cabaret Superstar' (New York Magazine), comedienne and chanteuse revives the genre by creating vintage arrangements & theatrical explorations of pop songs from every decade. Lady Rizo (nee Amelia Zirin-Brown) co-created the cult caburlesque spectacular Lady Rizo & the Assettes in 2005.
In January 2010 she won her first Grammy on a duet with acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma that was released on a Holiday album featuring Diana Krall, James Taylor and Alison Krauss among others. She also sings and records with multi-platnum recording artist Moby and was nominated for an MVPA for the choreography the video for the single New York, New York featuring Debbie Harry.
"When she belts the last note, everything is in place. The hand is daintily raised just so, the immobile coiffed hair frames her face and the monstrous eyelashes consume the eyes...you’d barely know what decade it is." (Gregory Miller, The New York Post)
"Winkingly sexy chanteuse... Lusciously retro vocals." (Adam Feldman, Time Out NYC)
"The talented Lady Rizo, who combines glamour, wit, and real vocal chops." (Michael Musto, Village Voice)

If you’d like to watch from a front-row seat as roots music reinvents itself, look no further than Coyote Grace. At once both radically progressive and unashamedly nostalgic, the trio is at the forefront of a growing movement to redefine the meanings of “roots” and “tradition.”
“Coyote Grace plays with the heart of traditional country and Americana music, but tells their stories with a bold twist,” says the Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray. “They write heart-wrenching melodies and make such textured harmonies that I find myself enraptured and taken by their timelessness of song.”

André Mehmari (piano).
Where Keith Jarrett melded the realms of jazz and classical music into one, André Mehmari has gone a step further. By adding the rhythms of his native Brazil, he has created a language of tremendous expressive power. Both a keyboard virtuoso and a skilled composer, Mehmari roams from the tender and romantic to the hard-driving and dramatic, speaking clearly and profoundly in a luminous instrumental voice.
In short, he is a fluent jazz improvisor, an imaginative composer, a virtuoso pianist, a dynamic Brazilian, and someone who loves to make his piano sing, all wrapped into one.

"Hands down the best show I've seen all year" -- Jessica Price, burlesqueseattle.com
L’Edition Francaise is a split bill of dance and burlesque by Lily Verlaine (Artistic Director and choreographer of The Burlesque Nutcracker), Kitten LaRue (Artistic Director and choreographer of The Atomic Bombshells) and Olivier Wevers (Artistic Director and Choreographer, Whim W’Him). The three choreographers will present new dance and burlesque works set to the sensational catalogues of artists Serge Gainsbourg, Hugues LeBars Francoise Hardy, France Gall, Brigitte Bardot, and other French icons. Weaving their own French Paradox, Verlaine, LaRue and Wevers explore eros, farce, manipulation, naiveté and alluring indifference in three individual short programs. This is a provocative evening of Francophilia not to be missed!
What the press has to say about the artists:
“The stunningly beautiful burlesque impresario Lily Verlaine holds court at the Triple Door.” -The Spellout Seattle
Kitten LaRue is the Artistic Director of "the city's most dazzling Burlesque troupe"(Seattle Weekly), and her "professionally choreographed routines are a sheer joy to watch!"(HotelsByCity.Net)
“Wevers' flair for drama, which infuses his own dancing, carries over to his creations for others, and it is very exciting to see him continue to develop as a maker of dances.” -- Alice Kaderlan, Seattle P-I

The show will be a special combination of Jon reading from his new book "Wild Ones" and Black Prairie playing selections from the soundtrack they created for that book. Black Prairie is going to put out an EP to accompany a book called "The Wild Ones" that their friend Jon Mooallem (of NY Times Magazine, The New Yorker, etc.) wrote.
A "Bluegrassy" band featuring 3 of the Decemberists. Despite their individual musical pedigrees, the seasoned musicians that make up progressive string band Black Prairie aren't moonlighting. The ensemble is pulled together from different corners of Portland, Oregon's remarkably rich music scene, and while the high profile of each musician in the band - which includes three-fifths of the Decemberists - ensures a certain amount of attention, it's clear that Black Prairie are in it for purely musical reasons. They're playing a brand of Americana that defies easy categorization, cross-pollinating a number of different styles while exposing the venerable, forgotten roots of folk and bluegrass.

The Monkees’ Peter Tork skyrocketed to fame in 1966, but the stories and musical heritage of this gifted, articulate musician and storyteller have remained unheard-and unseen- until now. Still breaking new ground in a five decade career, Peter Tork lifts the veil on stage with “In This Generation: My Life in the Monkees and so much more” . Previously unseen photos and footage, unheard songs, and hits fans know and love come together powerfully and gracefully as Tork weaves the tale of a musical education in folk and pop that culminates in his early years as a performer in the clubs of Greenwich Village. But it is a move to California-and a recommendation by friend Stephen Stills-that leads Peter to an audition for a part in a TV series.
“In This Generation: My Life in the Monkees and so much more” brings to life onstage the roller coaster ride of blistering TV ratings, concert tours, recording sessions, magazine covers... The Beatles, The Wrecking Crew, Jimi Hendrix, Jack Nicholson, MTV, Japan, Reunion tours, and 45 off again, on again years with the group the late Davy Jones called “The brothers I never had”-The Monkees.

The NYC singer/songwriter/producer, known for her 4-octave vocal range and stunning stage presence, made a name for herself with her critically-acclaimed 2006 debut album, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me. At the time, her artful blend of bluesy, soulful vocals and mid-tempo grooves garnered a passionate following that packed venues like NYC’s Mercury Lounge and Joe’s Pub, while Vibe Magazine gushed that her sound “evoke[s] Fiona Apple’s finest material.” Her single “Dream” was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Urban/Alternative category.
"Alice Smith slides through the songs on her album, For Lovers, Dreamers and Me in a bluesy voice that can be steamy or sleepy, heated or tart… she’s a vivid, unpredictable presence in every one." - Jon Pareles, New York Times
"Smith could easily be lumped in with expressive chanteuse like Norah Jones and Alicia Keys, but she has a broader palette than either." - BREAKING...10 Artists to Watch - Rolling Stone
Alice is releasing her second studio LP, She, on March 19th via Thirty Tigers. As a follow-up to her Grammy-nominated debut, the new record continues to blend R&B, funk and jazz with alternative influences. Her single, “Ocean” has received positive reactions from Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and The New York Times.

This down-to-earth singer-songwriter came out early in his career with an astounding and acclaimed piece of music in ‘Dressed Up like Nebraska’, highlighted by its title cut, and the song “Suburban Sweetheart”, which 15 years later still stands up majestically alongside other tracks of its canon. And the Artist continued to build on that impressive debut with subsequent albums, via his fruitful and long-running collaborations with producer Brad Jones. To many, this is personified in the break out hit album ‘1972’. It has been a career that, thankfully, has seen the Artist exhibit a welcome reluctance to follow the “devil-may-care, lets release everything recorded on tape” attitude of some of his contemporaries. Careful and thoughtful with his output, the Nebraskan ensures that the songs are well considered, and striving for the gold standard.
